Carl Harvey – Managing Director
Carl’s passion for carpentry began at an early age, having grown up in a family with a strong background in the trade. Determined to build a career in bespoke joinery, he joined Design Dimensions through the Project Trident work scheme. After just three weeks working alongside the team, it was clear he had found the right path, and he was offered an apprenticeship with the company.
Since then, Carl has dedicated his career to developing his craft and expanding his expertise, achieving Advanced City & Guilds and Advanced Institute of Carpenters qualifications. Through years of hands-on experience, he has built an in-depth understanding of every aspect of the business, from traditional craftsmanship to modern manufacturing and project management.
Carl has been instrumental in the growth and evolution of Design Dimensions, helping to establish the company’s reputation for delivering exceptional bespoke cabinetry and joinery across residential, commercial and retail projects. His commitment to quality, innovation and customer satisfaction continues to shape the way the business operates today.
In August 2019, Carl became Managing Director of Design Dimensions, alongside Luke Tomkins as Director. Together, they continue to build on the company’s long-standing reputation, investing in the latest technology, developing their skilled team, and ensuring every project reflects the high standards that have defined Design Dimensions for decades.
Luke Tomkins – Director
Luke’s journey with Design Dimensions began in 1999 through the Project Trident work scheme before officially joining the company as an apprentice carpenter in 2000. After developing his skills and gaining valuable experience with other bespoke joinery companies, he returned to Design Dimensions in 2010 with a clear vision for the future of the business.
Working closely alongside Carl, Luke played a key role in the company’s growth and succession planning, helping to lead Design Dimensions through the transition following Ken’s retirement. His combination of hands-on craftsmanship, technical knowledge and commercial understanding has been instrumental in maintaining the company’s reputation for delivering exceptional bespoke joinery and cabinetry.
Having worked his way through every stage of the business—from apprentice to Director—Luke has a genuine appreciation of the standards, attention to detail and customer service that define Design Dimensions. His practical experience enables him to bridge the gap between design, manufacturing and installation, ensuring every project is delivered to the highest standard.
Luke was appointed Director in August 2019 and now oversees the day-to-day operations of the business, continuing to invest in innovation, modern manufacturing and the development of the company’s talented team. With over 25 years connected to Design Dimensions, he remains committed to building on the company’s heritage while driving it forward for the future.

After spending 7 years at Design Dimensions, Derek decided to go and work for Paul Haslam Limited, manufacturing and fitting Kitchens until the unfortunate closure in early 2016.
Derek then returned to Design Dimensions in late 2016 as Site Manager.
